“We wanted to award our wrestlers for the sterling job they have done this year, and we want them to continue to do more and better. We are the first black club in this area as people prefer soccer and netball over wrestling,” says Israel Kgaleletsane, team manager.
Sesi Thipe, one of the parents, says her child’s life has improved immensely ever since joining the club.

“At first, I wasn’t aware that he had joined the club but over time I noted a change in his behaviour as he was a very troublesome child, always running around with a gang and getting into trouble.
“And there has been major improvement in his school work as well.
“He loves what he does and seems to be very committed,” says Thipe.
The club hopes to see at least one of their wrestlers competing in the Olympics next year.
