Gold medalist Nthabiseng Phala will never let her disability stop her from chasing her dreams.
Kwa-Thema – Gold medalist Nthabiseng Phala will never let her disability stop her from chasing her dreams.
The 32-year-old physically challenged sportswoman from Kwa-Thema excelled in shot put, long jump and the 100m and 200m athletic events in the Paralympics.
Since 2005, Phala has collected medals on the local stage and in international competitions.

Last year she broke the South African record in shot put at the Toyota National Championships for the Physically Disabled and Visually Impaired in Stellenbosch, which were held as a qualifier for the World Para Athletics Championships, which was scheduled to take place in Dubai this month.
These championships were also in preparation for the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo.
She was nominated in the 2020 Paralympics Grand Prize Awards, which were supposed to be held in Namibia in February.
Nthabiseng said her secret to winning comes from hard work, dedication and support from her coaches and teammates.

“Training is very important for one to make it in any competition.
“Through the years I have put in the hard work and now I am working on breaking records.
“I want my name to be engraved in international records and to be read among the best of the best in sports,” she said.
Nthabiseng is preparing for next year’s World Para Athletics Championships.
