There’s no stopping Zwes Tornado

KwaThema - Sizwe 'Zwes Tornado' Dlamini (30) is in the top 20 for the Back To The City 10k Challenge which will see the top five from the 20 battle it out for a R10 000 cash prize.

The kasi rap/raw hip-hop artist says he is honoured that he has made it to the top 20 as 4 000 artists entered for the challenge this year.

“Making it this far in the competition is a confirmation that I’m doing something right and I’m headed in the right direction,” he says.

Dlamini started rapping in 2004 and has built himself up and gained much noticeable recognition from local artists and the underground hip-hop industry.

He boasts of being a part of the Yfm Siz n Scoop show, where listeners voted for him numerous times to battle it out with different rappers.

Currently Zwes Tornado is busy working on his mixtape and on weekends he performs on various stages around Ekurhuleni.

“I’m busy trying to put my name out there so many people may be familiar with my music, so when I drop my mixtape, I’ll have a large following.

“Moreover, I enjoy performing. I become a beast on stage and that’s what makes me better every time I battle it out,” says the rapper.

He says he is inspired by rappers such as ProVerb, Tupac and Busta Rhymes, to name a few.

“I draw inspiration from old school hip-hop, which my people can hear from my sound and the way I rap,” says Zwes Tornado.

Speaking about the competition, he says it would mean a lot to him to win the prize as it will enable his mixtape project, which will be released under his entertainment label, Olaboi Entertainment.

“Winning this competition will really boost my career in terms of exposure and marketing my upcoming project,” adds the rapper.
