Friendly ends with a draw

Tsamaya Masters sides share spoils in Ntokozweni Grounds friendly clash

An intense friendly game against Tsamaya Masters Social League’s Re Kaofela FC from Langaville Ext 8 and Kwa-Thema’s Italiano FC, on June 28 at Ntokozweni Grounds, ended 2-2.

The first half ended with Italiano leading from two goals scored by Sibusiso ‘Ngoco’ Mahlangu. In the second half, Re Kaofela were able to score two goals from Linda Nhlapo before the game ended.

Speaking to African Reporter, Italiano’s coach Thabo Mphathi said that the game is part of the preparations for the upcoming tournament, the Siyadlala Cup, as the league has ended.

He said his team is doing well in preparing for the tournament and from the game played, the team is adapting to the new style of play.

He added that the new style allows the team to start from the defence and come forward to capitalise on goals.

“In terms of the tournament, the players have carried a positive energy and are excited to play.

“We will try our best and if given a chance, we will punish our opponents with scoring at any opportunity given,” said Mphathi.

With the season over, Mphathi explained that there will be changes done, as players will be given a chance to move before the new season begins.

Re Kaofela’s Nhlapo told the publication that the team started slow, which allowed the opponent to score.

He credited the management with the technical changes which allowed them in equalising.

The team will also be participating in the tournament and Nhlapo said that the team looks ready in facing the other teams.

“We cannot share everything but good preparation has been one thing that the teams have been focusing on.

“Exercising and practising together is key in executing the plan we have for the tournament,” said Nhlapo.

Nhlapo shared that the team will be taking one game at a time and not putting pressure on the team but hopes that the team reaches the finals.
