Run This City runners club promotes fitness and health through hiking trip
Tsakani runners swap the road for the mountains in a health and wellness initiative.
Tsakani – Run This City runners club from Tsakani recently enjoyed a hiking trip at Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve to promote fitness and health.
The initiative encouraged members to stay active while enjoying the outdoors and strengthening social bonds within the club.
Participants said the hike was not only a physical challenge but also an opportunity to motivate one another to maintain healthy lifestyles.
The club continues to use running and other outdoor activities to inspire community members to prioritise wellness, fitness and mental well-being.

Club founder, Itumeleng Madisa, said the aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle in a fun and engaging way.
He explained that this style of fitness is much more engaging and helps participants avoid overthinking their participation in health activities.
Hike participant Karabo Mpempe Fundama shared her experience, saying this was her first hike.
“I went hiking for the very first time, and I am really glad I joined the team for the experience.
“It started off on easy mode, but things became more challenging when I reached the 7km mark.
“Even though it got tough, I pushed through and enjoyed every moment of it,” she explained.
