Marais Viljoen girls shine with first-place finish at Buffelspoort tennis tournament
Four Marais Viljoen girls helped lead the school’s Girls’ A-team to a first-place finish at the Buffelspoort Prestige Tournament.
Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High School’s tennis players made their mark at the Buffelspoort Prestige Tournament, with the school’s Girls’ A-team claiming an impressive first-place finish.
The tournament proved a successful outing for the Alberton school, with four Marais Viljoen girls singled out for their outstanding performances.
The school congratulated Jané du Preez, Marché du Preez, Lianke Visser and Miné Visser, describing them as “our four Marais Viljoen girls who delivered an outstanding performance”.
The four players, who form two pairs of sisters, were praised for “shining once again” on the tennis court. Their efforts contributed to a strong overall showing by the school’s teams.
The Girls’ A-team secured first place, while the Girls’ B-team finished fourth.
The boys also competed strongly, with the Boys’ A-team taking fifth place and the Boys’ B-team finishing 10th.
For Marais Viljoen, the Girls’ A-team’s victory was the highlight of the tournament, providing another reason for the school community to celebrate its young tennis players.
The school summed up the performance simply: “The Girls’ A-team proved their mettle and secured a fantastic first place.”
