Alberton Boxing Club boxers shine at Springs Mall tournament

Four Alberton Boxing Club boxers stepped into the ring against competitors from across Gauteng, with three claiming runner-up spots and one taking victory in his division.

Four boxers from Alberton Boxing Club were matched against opponents during an open-air boxing tournament at Springs Mall on Saturday, August 1.

According to Estelle Greeff from the club, boxing clubs from across Gauteng were present at the tournament, allowing young and experienced boxers to test their skills against different opponents.

Among the Alberton Boxing Club participants was 13-year-old Jethro Birckell, who competed in the 39kg division.

Jethro displayed confidence, emotional control, skill and composure throughout his bout, finishing as runner-up.

Fellow 13-year-old boxer Devlin Kleinhans also secured a runner-up position in the 42kg division.

His determination and fighting spirit paid off as he battled through his bout and finished second in his weight division.

Martin Noyce (19) competed in the 69kg division and also finished as runner-up. He showed heart, discipline and character during his fight.

Cayden Pereira delivered a winning performance in the 47kg division.

The 13-year-old impressed with his slick hand speed, powerful legs and solid balance to claim victory in his weight division.

The performances highlighted the determination and talent within Alberton Boxing Club, with the four boxers putting their skills to the test against competitors from clubs across Gauteng.
