Outlines of two rhinos were put up in the school hall for learners of the school to place R10 notes onto – in significance of the rhino on the note on September 9
All profits made on the day would be donated to Investec Rhino Lifeline. The profits made by the refreshments which were sold would also be donated towards saving the rhinos. Parents were also invited to join in the fun. All the learners brought their own money and most went without tuck shop or sweets to save the life of the rhino. The school also had an assembly where the children were educated about the current status of the rhino and how they could help. Numerous scriptures and presentations were presented, each with a different message.
All the learners were very excited about doing their role to save the rhino, one learner, Phindile Mahonga said, “I want to save the rhino so that there is another generation.” Joshua Els said, “It is my favourite animal and people kill them and it is wrong. My Dad gave me R10 to stick on the picture and I really hope people stop killing the rhinos.”
The day was a huge success as the school managed to raise R6 100 towards the Investec Rhino Lifeline.
