Appalling conditions at home affairs

The RECORD visited the Department of Home Affairs following all the various complaints from concerned residents. These were mainly about the conditions of how they operate/d. The question on why there seems to be a shortage of staff was answered by a staff member saying that a senior employee received a large bonus which made it impossible to employ more staff and that was not verified.

New Makro promised a breathtaking experience

The official roof welting took place at the new Makro. Residents looked forward for this exciting and brand new Makro which opened on April 24. The new Makro now boasts a large over hanging roof which makes collection of goods easier.

Factory up in flames

A factory in Alrode caught fire in the early morning of March 15 resulting in millions of Rands worth of losses. The cause of the fire was unknown but speculation was said that it could have probably been faulty wiring.

Man killed in accident

A man died in a horrific accident in Hennie Alberts Street on Tuesday March 19 after the two collided vehicles (BMW and Nissan 1400 bakkie) both said the robot was green for either of them to pass through. During the time, eyewitnesses claim that the body was left for six hours. The accident was said to be investigated and officials believed that the BMW could have been driving too fast.
