THE apparent spate of recent hijacking in Alberton have authorities and residents worried.
“We have noted with concern the hijackings taking place in the Alberton area. The operational plan has been put into place to help deal with this problem. Visibility was increased at the hot spots by posting extra members to work flexible hours.
“There is also an awareness taking place whereby the community is given safety tips through pamphlets and the media. A cluster team is working with us to normalise the situation . We also request the community to work with us by giving us information that can help us to make an arrest and also to report any suspicious vehicles or activity in their area. Together we can put a stop to this,” said Sergeant Nkuna, spokesperson for the Alberton Police.
