FOUR people died in an accident on February 15 near the Leondale off-ramp.
Paramedics from Emer-G-Med responded to reports of a serious multi-vehicle collision on the N3 North and N3 South near the Leondale Road off-ramp – in Germiston – at around 16:40.
On arrival paramedics found a scene of chaos. A truck and six light motor vehicles were involved, allegedly after one car veered into oncoming traffic on the N3 North after nearly ramming into the primary accident on the N3 South.
On assessment it was found that the four occupants of the Citi Golf had sustained fatal injuries, some having been ejected from the vehicle. They were declared dead on the scene by two teams of Emer-G-Med Paramedics.
Four other people were injured in the collision. One patient was in a critical condition, having sustained multiple fractures. The critically injured patient was stabilised at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital under the care of an Emer-G-Med Advanced Life Support paramedic.
The three other patients, who sustained minor to moderate injuries, were also transported to various medical facilities for further care.
