How can people register for the vaccination
City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) offers registration methods and procedures on registering for vaccination roll out.
Vaccine registration is open to people with a South African ID number, passport number, asylum seeker permit number and refugee permit number.
People can register choosing from the three methods listed as follows:
• WhatsApp registration – on 060 0123 456 with minimal data costs and free outgoing messages. Send the word REGISTER to 060 0123 456 on your WhatsApp, answer all questions asking you for all your details in the vaccine registration secure chat. When you are done you will receive a message confirming that you are registered and in the systems queue.
• USSD registration – By dialing *134*832# which is free on all South African mobile networks. Follow the prompts on the screen, put in all the details the system asks for. When you are done you will see a final message confirming that you are registered and in the systems queue.
• Online registration – https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za. The welcome screen will guide you through the steps, follow the instructions and put in all the details the system asks for. When you are finished, the system will send an SMS to the phone number you provided. This means that the system now has your details in a queue to be scheduled for your vaccine.
You will then receive an SMS with a date and the place where you will be vaccinated. You will be sent to the vaccination centre that is closest to your home. Some of you may be directed to your place of work.
CoE’s spokesperson Zweli Dlamini reiterated that vaccine registration assistance is done in all the CoE’s clinics, customer care centres and post offices.
“Vaccine registration assistance in households is carried out by the Ward Based Outreach Programme and Community Support Programme (CSP’s) who are healthcare workers. They visit the homes, mainly in townships,” he said.
