Warning, graphic images – Not for sensitive viewers: Rickey needs our help

“He is currently receiving veterinary treatment.”

There is a call for help from all communities to assist JSPCA to get Rickey healthy and ready to go to a good, loving forever home.
Liana Marx from the JSPCA said this pup, which they named Rickey, was brought in by a distressed member of the public who found him dumped outside a tavern.
“The horrendous wound on the back of this little pup shocked us so badly we were at a complete loss for words. Looking at the wound, it seems as if someone tried to skin him alive. It is hard to comprehend what goes through a normal person’s mind when doing something like this.
“This little puppy had to endure what must have seemed like hours of pure torture,” explained Marx.
“No one tried to save him. After the perpetrator was done, he just dumped the poor puppy next to a dustbin discarded like rubbish, most probably assuming he will die of the blood loss.
“The wound looked to be about two days old as a lot of dead skin had to be cut away to clean the wound.”
Rickey is currently receiving veterinary treatment. The wound has been cleaned and a drain has been placed inside the wound to get rid of all the toxins. The drain will come out in a few days.
“The wound has been stitched up and he is on antibiotics to prevent infection. Once he is healed and ready, Rickey will be looking for a home,” said Marx.
“Your donations make it possible for us to keep on fighting for animals like Rickey.
