WATCH: Brackenhurst house catches fire

A house on Hennie Alberts Street caught fire in the early hours of Saturday.

The City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) teams from Alberton and Thokoza pulled together to fight a house fire on August 14.

Eric Maloka, spokesperson for Ekurhuleni Emergency Services said Alberton and Thokoza fire stations were dispatched to 97 Hennie Alberts Street at about 3am.

“Upon arrival, a vast area was full of smoke and mostly paper work was burning with visible flames” he said.

A well-coordinated plan was put into action to curb the spread of the fire.

“Five rooms were affected by the fire and the other sixth room was smoke damaged.”

No injuries have been reported during the fire.

“The house appeared to be unoccupied and it was an engineering workplace,” added Maloka.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Investigations by the fire and safety department of DEMS will continue.
