Dug up holes in Brackendowns left unattended for almost 10 months

Resident wants to know when EMM workers will come and finish what they started.

An elderly resident is concerned about the safety of children living in her street due to two deep holes left open by workers from the Ekurhuleni metro in November last year.

Liz Carstens lives in Kameeldoring Street in Brackendowns for more than 40 years.

According to her, the metro workers came out last year to work on her and her neighbour’s water metres.

“They dug two holes, moved one of the water meters and left. For the past 10 months these two holes remained open filling up with water,” she said.

On August 3 she saw workers fixing a water pipe just a few metres from her house.

“They closed up the road and left. How can they complete that job yet leave the other one incomplete for 10 months?”

Carstens said that this is a big safety hazard for children and it looks disgusting.

She also mentioned that her water bill has gone up since November and when she inquired about it she was told that it is the new water tariffs.

“I just want them to come and finish their job,” she said.
