SAPS takes part in an awareness campaign

The goal of the operation was to increase visible policing in sectors that have become crime hot spots.

Brackendowns SAPS members, led by the Vispol commander, Attie Engelbtech, recently joined hands with the CPF, Habibi Properties, The Savanna George Foundation and the CPF Youth for the Women’s Month Operation Basadi awareness campaign.

“We were at Meyersdal Mall and held a pamphlet drive. The team spread out, going from shop to shop, speaking to the general public visiting the mall about gender-based violence (GBV) and general crimes,” WO Gerhard Cornelius, communications liaison for Brackendowns SAPS, explained.

The pamphlets distributed were on GBV, vehicle-related crimes and general crime safety tips.

“We were well received and our message on safety hit the spot. The team also handed out SAPS carry bags with some pamphlets and also a sweet for the children,” said Cornelius.

Brackendowns SAPS would like to thank all the role players and partners involved.

Law-enforcement officers and volunteers create an awareness campaign in the Meyersdal area.
