Decorating Ligstad in the colour of hope

The Ligstad family recently also took part in a project, where people all over South Africa were encouraged to tie yellow ribbons to trees.

“This is a message to the world: We have not lost our hope yet. We hope and believe that we will beat the pandemic ravaging our world and causing a great deal of discomfort,” said Daniel Viljoen, operations manager.

The Ligstad aftercare learners recently decorated trees with bright yellow ribbons while dancing in the August winds.

“Our learners received ribbons to tie to other trees near their homes as well. Do not lose hope. Life is tough at the moment, but so are you. With the trust we place in God and the help He provides, we will be victorious,” he said.

“Our hope for the future is one of the major driving forces in our lives. Viktor Frankl was a holocaust survivor, psychologist and prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.

During his time in the concentration camp, he had a friend who had a dream that the war would end on March 30.

“As the 30th drew nearer, it became clear that the war wasn’t ending. By the 29th, his friend developed a fever, on the 30th he lost consciousness and died on March 31. He lost his hope in the future, which lowered his natural ability to fight off disease. We must protect our hope for the future at all cost,” Daniel concluded.
