Alleged Mandrax manufacturer Thulani Mtotoba reappeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on May 4 after being hospitalised at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
Brackendowns’ Mtotoba, whose matter was previously postponed for a plea, is expected to reappear on May 17.
The postponement comes after the accused’s defence attorney reported ill and was not available on the day.
During his postponement, magistrate Ashin Singh said: “This matter has been on the roll for more than a year now, it is either the accused or prosecutor. On the next court date, the court will take other steps to make sure that this matter proceeds.”
The accused, who faces charges of manufacturing and dealing drugs, was arrested for what was believed to be a Mandrax manufacturing facility in his Brackendowns home in 2019.
