Alberton Methodist Church celebrates Mother’s Day in style
Young at Hearts, a programme of the Alberton Methodist Church, continues to commemorate seniors.
Seniors were treated to delicious food and entertainment at Young @ Hearts of Alberton Methodist Church on May 17.
Young @ Hearts is an organisation that frequently brings older citizens together with the goal of giving them the time of their lives.
This month’s gathering was themed under the recently celebrated day which was Mother’s Day.
According to Kathleen du Toit, the event was organised to enable seniors to commemorate Mother’s Day and to help them reminisce about their younger selves while giving them the chance to catch up with old friends.
“Elders teach us important lessons about embracing change and overcoming obstacles since they have a wealth of life experience. They have a wealth of knowledge and insight to impart to us. We must thus celebrate with them the occasions that are most meaningful to them,” said Kathleen.
The Alberton Methodist Church expressed its best wishes for a joyous day and pleaded with everyone to always take care of their health and safety in order to enjoy more celebrations like this one.
They later paid a moment of respect to their three members who passed on since they last met.
The event concluded with a delicious meal for the elders.
