Ward 106 committee and residents give back to the elderly
A winter project bringing warmth and care to the elderly.
The Ward 106 committee and some caring residents gave back to the elderly residents of Silwerkroon with lunch and winter care packages.
A resident at Silwerkroon, Samantha Goncalves, approached Nicolene Haasbroek, a Ward 106 Ward committee member of sport, heritage, recreation, arts and culture (SHRAC) portfolio in April to do something to spoil the elderly with winter fast approaching.
Samantha worked extremely hard and rallied the community to get on board to donate care packages.
A total of 64 packages were required and by mid-May all the packages had been donated by the kind and generous residents of Alberton.
At the luncheon held on June 3, the packages were presented to the residents and they were absolutely delighted and so grateful.
Philcon Plumbing Services kindly sponsored the luncheon. The Winter Care Project is only one of many other projects currently underway by the Ward 106 committee.
