Alberton’s Elande calling on support for cancer drive
The community-driven Fidelity ADT Alberton Rugby Club has endeavoured to raise funds to assist members that need financial assistance in their battle against cancer.

The initiative was birthed when the Alberton Mongrels chairperson, Francois Paulsen, suggested they raise funds for an ex-Alberton club player struggling with cancer.
Alberton Rugby Club raised funds with a raffle drawn by Alberton Record on June 5. JP Venter was the winner.
They have distributed these proceeds to the ex-Eland.
June 24 will be a great day for rugby fans when Alberton Rugby Club, the Elande, will host Wanderers in five games.
The first team will not be donning the customary brown kit. There will be an element of pink in their attire to create awareness around the cancer drive.
The team calls on supporters, spectators, and players to support the cancer initiative by wearing something pink when they officially launch the cancer drive, with prizes and giveaways.
The first kick-off will be at noon, with the Alberton Kaas and Wyn Golden Oldie team. In true oldies rugby spirit, they will play against a mixture of players from around the oldie fraternity.
The senior club fixtures will enjoy the same time slots. The thirds and U21s kick off at 13:15, the seconds and U19s at 14:40 and the main game kick-off at 16:00.
There will be entertainment for the children, so mom and dad can enjoy the rugby.
Following the rugby, there will be entertainment until late, with artists such as the Alberton house musicians Tjoppie and Rayne as opening acts to Nadine and Juan Boucher.
Alberton Rugby Club thanks Fidelity ADT for assisting them in making this drive possible.
Support the drive during the day and find the stand where they sell the raffles. Buying a raffle ticket puts you in line for a prize.
You can also support the drive in a separate initiative by donating on TicketPro when you purchase your ticket.
Please note these online donations are separate from raffles sold and are considered a donation only.
