Laerskool Suidheuwels Primary gifts Look Forward Creativity Centre

Every learner contributed R2 towards the initiative which was given to the orphanage in South Hills.

As part of a Mandela Day project, Laerskool Suidheuwels Primary’s learners, parents and teachers contributed R2 towards the initiative.

On July 21, during a special Mandela Day celebration, the funds were handed over to the Look Forward Creativity Centre, an NPO in South Hills that cares for children who are hurt, abandoned, neglected, abused and orphaned.

Look Forward Creativity Centre representative and social worker Lilian Obasi received the donations on behalf of the organisation. The school handed over an amount of R2 313 to the centre.

The principal, Patience Ndizmandze, said: “We chose Look Forward Creativity Centre because we work hand in hand with the organisation. Every student and teacher contributed R2 on very short notice yet it made a big difference.”

The 67-minute celebration took place in the school hall where all the children were seated. The learners sang Nelson Mandela songs and presented Mandela quotes before the donation was handed over.

“We are humbled and thankful to every learner, parent and staff member for their contribution. The monetary donation will make a difference and help cater to the needs of every child at the centre,” said Obasi.
