Believers Care Society upskills over 300 graduates
Unskilled and unemployed youths were overjoyed during their graduation ceremony after being given a head start to a career life on September 2 in Turffontein.
Believers Care Society, with its head offices based in Turffontein, congratulated over 300 students from across their centres for completing their accredited skills qualifications.
Hard work has paid off for the many graduates who were honoured in two sessions on the day.
This is after the students completed a training course on various disciplines and were declared ready to access the marketplace and secure further education opportunities.

The learners completed 330 learning hours for quarterly skills programme courses and 1 320 hours for full qualification courses. They participated weekly in social change activities, through the youth clubs, moral instructions and leadership development sessions, which have increased their personal leadership skills and moral values.
In addition, learners also completed over 25 hours of community service with different organisations.
A proud Simphiwe Kunene, social worker and centre manager at Believers Care Society explained that they are a skills development centre which empowers the youth.
“Our services comprise a job centre and that is where we assist students and link them with different companies. We also have a business incubation centre. Through the incubation centre, we are able to help students who are interested in starting their own businesses. And the programme also assists in helping them register their businesses, and they get to attend workshops,” she said.

They also offer social work services to address social ills. Other Believers Care Society centres are based as far as Denver, Lawley and Booysens.
Believers Care Society also extends its services as far as conducting community outreaches to young people, giving them several opportunities. They also conduct health promotion services to teach the youth the importance of healthy lifestyles.
Their programmes are supported through the Gauteng Department of Social Development. For more information, visit www.believerscaresociety.org
