Community unity: Swift action by Alberton SAPS and CPF Stops thieves in their tracks
Alberton SAPS and the CPF came together to foil a burglary in South Crest.
A collaborative effort between the Alberton SAPS and the CPF led to the apprehension of two suspects involved in a burglary in South Crest on January 2.
The incident was reported at approximately 16:40 when a resident, Shingi Silape, noticed a man jumping over their gate with stolen property.
Shingi, also a CPF member, alerted his family, and a pursuit ensued.
The suspects attempted to flee in separate directions but were ultimately cornered and apprehended by Shingi and responding officers, Sergeant Qekela and Sergeant Nkwana.
A thorough investigation followed, including the recovery of stolen items and the taking of statements.
“Alberton SAPS and CPF were incredibly swift and supportive. It’s reassuring to know we have such a dedicated team looking out for us,” said Cynthia Silape.
The successful outcome was attributed to the quick response and teamwork between law enforcement and community members, highlighting the importance of community vigilance and effective policing in maintaining neighbourhood safety.
