Quantum overturns on R59 near Reading Interchange

One passenger was seriously injured after a Toyota Quantum overturned on the R59 near Alberton’s Reading Interchange, prompting authorities to urge motorists to drive carefully and remain alert on the roads.

Motorists travelling on the R59 northbound near the Reading Interchange in Alberton have been urged to drive with caution following an accident involving a passenger transport vehicle on May 11.

A white Toyota Quantum transporting 16 passengers reportedly lost control and overturned on the freeway, causing traffic delays in the area.

According to reports from the scene, one female passenger sustained serious injuries during the incident.
Emergency services responded swiftly, while officers from the EMPD Freeway Unit attended the scene and managed traffic.

The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed, and investigations are expected to continue.
Authorities have reminded motorists to exercise extra caution on the roads, particularly when travelling on busy freeways.

Drivers are urged to obey speed limits, keep a safe following distance and remain alert at all times to help prevent serious crashes.
