Gardener pleads guilty to murder of Alberton mother and son

Pardon Danhire was handed two sentences of 25 years after entering a plea and sentencing bargain with the state.

Pardon Danhire and Freddie Stapelberg appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court again today, where Danhire pleaded guilty to the murders of Nadine Terblanche (32) and her son, Ruandré Vorster (9).

The mother and son were murdered in their Randhart home on November 27, 2023.

Danhire was sentenced to 25 years for the murder of Terblanche and 25 years for the murder of Vorster.

The sentences will run concurrently, and due to his cooperation, five years of the sentence will be suspended. The five years suspended will come into effect should Danhire testify against Stapelberg. He must also be found unfit to possess a firearm.

Stapelberg allegedly promised Danhire R100 000 to kill Terblanche and Vorster.

Danhire will testify in the matter of Stapelberg on March 5.

Stapelberg pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him, and his matter will be dealt with separately according to Section 157.

All the parties signed the agreement that was produced before the judge, including Terblanche’s mother, that the sentence put before Pardon was appropriate.
