CPS Security foils R280k battery fraud attempt in Alrode

Two suspects arrested during undercover sting; previously stole R90K in goods and now face charges of fraud, theft, and intimidation.

The CPS Security tactical team, foiled an attempt by two suspects to defraud a battery supplier in Alrode by using false documentation.

The suspects had initially stolen goods worth R90 000 and planned to steal R280 000 worth of batteries in a second order.

Thanks to the company’s swift action and the team’s expertise, an operation was set up, and the suspects were apprehended during the delivery of the stolen goods.

The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was impounded.

The suspects were handed over to the Brackendowns SAPS. This successful operation highlights the importance of collaboration between businesses and law enforcement agencies in preventing and combating crime.

Brackendowns SAPS station commander, Colonel Jacoline van der Westhuizen, said the suspects were charged with fraud, theft and intimidation. “The suspects will remain in custody.”
