Off-duty officer killed in attempted hijacking in Eden Park

A family is mourning the loss of officer Jimmy Ralehlaka after he was killed in an attempted hijacking.

The Eden Park police are investigating a case of attempted hijacking and murder following the tragic death of off-duty police officer Jimmy Ralehlaka.

According to a statement from the office of the district commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole, Ralehlaka, who was stationed at Palm Ridge Court, was approached by three unidentified suspects while off duty.

The suspects allegedly attempted to hijack his white Ford Ranger.

Ralehlaka was transported to Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries.

A family member confirmed his passing but said they do not yet know the full details of the incident. They are awaiting an update from the police.

At this stage, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
