High-speed chase ends in arrest of suspected car thieves in Verwoerdpark

Two suspects were nabbed after a joint security operation led to the recovery of a cloned vehicle and the discovery of sophisticated signal jamming and burglary devices.

An anti-crime operation in Verwoerdpark resulted in the apprehension of suspects found with sophisticated vehicle theft devices.

Fox Security reported that they received information from Vumacam about a cloned vehicle operating in the suburb. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a motor vehicle theft earlier in the day.

“Our tactical units immediately responded and began searching the area. The vehicle was located and followed along Second Avenue, where the suspects realised they were being tailed, leading to a high-speed chase. The pursuit continued from Verwoerdpark onto the N3 through Cleveland and Bedfordview,” said Fox Security in a statement.

With assistance from the JMPD’s TRU unit, the vehicle was successfully stopped in Essexwold, near Edenvale. Two suspects were apprehended and found in possession of signal jamming devices and vehicle burglary implements.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had false number plates and was linked to other criminal cases across Gauteng.

“A huge well done to our Fox tactical team for their swift and professional response. We extend our sincere thanks to Vumacam for initiating the alert and collaborating, and to JMPD TRU and SAPS Johannesburg Flying Squad for their excellent support and teamwork. Together, we’re stronger in the fight against crime,” said Fox Security.
