“I found out recently that my father passed away, and with all the stress it is causing, my asthma is getting worse, and my heart is giving me problems. I am asking that the court help me receive my medication for antidepressants and anxiety. I have my asthma pumps, but I do not get medication for my anxiety, stress or depression,” Bekker told the court.
Presiding magistrate, Isabella Mlaba, asked Bekker if she understood that the case had to continue, to which Bekker replied in the affirmative.
Magistrate Mlaba warned Bekker to ensure that she receives medical attention during the postponement of the case.
The magistrate also insisted that Bekker obtains a medical report from the hospital section of the prison to prove her medical issues.
Both accused were remanded back to custody and are expected to appear in court on June 8.
