2 arrested in Alberton after stolen vehicle recovered

Two young suspects were arrested in Alberton after EMPD officers discovered they were travelling in a vehicle reported stolen in 2022 during a stop and search operation on Voortrekker Road

Two men were arrested by the EMPD Community Liaison Unit after they were found in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle during a stop-and-search operation in Alberton.

The arrests took place along Voortrekker Road when officers stopped and searched a Toyota Corolla occupied by the two suspects.

During the inspection, officers conducted a systematic verification using the vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in 2022 and was linked to a case number in Odendaalsrus.

The suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody at Alberton Police Station.

The EMPD commended the vigilance and commitment of officers involved in the operation, highlighting the importance of ongoing stop-and-search operations in combating vehicle-related crime within the city.
