Brackendowns SAPS stands against GBV

To celebrate women, the Brackendowns SAPS and the community, held an awareness campaign to raise awareness of the importance of respecting women.

A walk from Brackendowns SAPS to Jackson Dam was held to raise awareness for International Women’s Day to show how important women are and deserve to be treated with respect.

The awareness walk was themed ‘We will not tolerate crimes against women’.

Stakeholders who participated included VISPOL, CPF, security companies, Afriforum, NGOs, business sectors, schools and the community.

Along the route businesses also committed to standing against GBV by joining forces with SAPS Brackendowns.

Members of the community who brought their dogs for the walk were joined by the SAPS Mounted Unit (MU).

The second phase of the event will be a flea market at Jackson Dam where the community will have the opportunity to engage with the stakeholders and meet with SAPS Brackendowns and Mounted Unit.
