Vagrant erects tent on Alberton North sidewalk, EMPD condemn

The EMPD is aware of a tent seen in Alberton North behind the Alberton SAPS and is attending to it. They condemed the act as unlawful.

Locals saw a tent pitched on the sidewalk on the corner of Van Riebeeck Avenue and Louis Trichard Street in Alberton North, just behind the Alberton Police Station.

The EMPD was notified and assured they would attend to the pitched tent because it is unlawful and obstructs pedestrians.

“We were unaware of this situation because, if we were, it would not have been there. As soon as we receive a complaint of this nature, we attend to it. This is obstructing pedestrians because it is on the sidewalk,” said Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng of the EMPD.

He advised the community to immediately contact the metro’s call centre on 086 054 3000 should they see a pitched tent.
