Scard Media presented a prestigious lifestyle event which celebrated local African fashion designers on September 23.

Multicultural designers and fashionistas came together to showcase their great talent at Alberton Hellenic Community Centre in New Redruth.

The occasion presented exciting exhibitions of different African clothing brands, live modelling, stunning performances and much fun celebrating Africa.

Giscard Ngwama, director of ScardMedia, said: “Since it’s Heritage Month, we decided on doing something that would bring African designers and the South African culture together. Our designers came from all over Africa; some came from the DRC, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. We’re bringing Africans together by celebrating our heritage and diversity.”

The well-attended event, which also created job opportunities for locals, was sponsored by Lifestyle Property Group and supported by several other partners. Ms United Nation International 2019, Vinolia Mabele, was also in attendance.

According to event organiser, Mbalenhle Vezi, great commitment culminated in making the event a great success. She said it took them at least three months to put the show together.

“Attendees also had an opportunity to network during the event. We have set our sights on expanding and growing moving forward, by hosting this show in other African countries as well. We need to be cycle-breakers and learn to be self-starters,” she said.
