Christmas spirit cherished in Brackendowns

With seven days left until Christmas, the residents of Brackendowns and surrounding areas were in a celebratory and Christmassy mood during the Bracken Jingle All the Way event held over the long weekend.

Organisers collaborated to provide much fun and joy to locals with Christmas around the corner during the Bracken Jingle All the Way event held on December 15.

Santa and his elves came on a sleigh with Christmas carols played by a live band. The event also comprised a nativity play, performances and loads of Christmas goodies for locals to choose from.

The event aided local charities, including St Mary’s Children’s Home, Broken Wings and Animal Protection Network, with the help of Taller Waller, CPS Security and individual donors.

John Goodenough, Morgan Botha and Luis (DJ Luis) Carvalho led the Christmas carols. All the stalls were manned by local residents who make a living from what they sold.

The community donated food, toys, sweets, blankets, beds and dog food, which were given to those in need.
