Alberton ministry opens sanctuary for children
Anchored in Jesus Ministry, founded by Roelf Strydom, aims to provide a safe space for children to study, play, learn about God and receive guidance and after-school support.
A ministry in Alberton has opened its doors, offering children a safe, welcoming environment to study, play, learn about God, and receive guidance as they grow.
Anchored in Jesus Ministry officially opened at 22 Parklands Lane, Alberton, on October 14, marking the beginning of its journey to support children and families in the community.
The ministry aims to create a sanctuary for children of all ages, with a particular focus on providing after-school support for less privileged children.
Rolf Strydom said he is excited to begin the new journey after finding a building they had prayed for.

“We’ve got a beautiful building, something that we prayed for, and we now have a sanctuary for kids,” he said.
The ministry aims to offer children a safe place to study after school, play and learn in a welcoming environment where they can discover their God-given potential. Strydom said the vision went beyond providing a physical space.
“Most importantly, we will make time to listen to the kids, to find out what they’re struggling with, and then help them,” he said.
The ministry also hopes to connect children and families with other organisations that can assist.
According to Strydom, several non-profit organisations are working with them. Its vision includes school safety talks, discipleship and support for parents, sharing God’s Word and love, and helping children grow through faith, love and guidance.
The ministry’s message is reflected in Matthew 19:14: “Let the little children come to me.” Strydom also invited community members who wanted to make a difference in children’s lives to get involved.
Through its work, Anchored in Jesus Ministry hopes to bring hope, love and God’s light to children and families while providing a supportive environment where young people can learn, grow and feel safe.
