Alberton High School celebrates Maths Olympiad victory

Alberton High School will go for round two of the Mathematics Olympiad.

The South African National Mathematics Olympiad held its 2024 competition on March 14.

Alberton High School was among the schools that participated, with 13 learners representing it. They won the event’s first round and go for round two on May 9.

“It is normally a tough competition, but this year, we had 13 candidates who qualified to write the second round later in May,” said Oscar von Platen, a media liaison officer and educator of the school.

This competition was on International Maths Day.

The Mathematics Olympiad is an annual competition that tests the application of mathematics in 20 multiple-choice questions.
