New astro turf for school
The school is excited and looks forward to the AstroTurf hockey field and sharing it with the community.
Hoërskool Marais Viljoen High greatly desired an astro turf for many years and the school’s dream is finally coming to fruition.
On February 27, the principal Dr Johlet Krause, and Wikus Steenberg, chairperson of the SGB, broke ground on the first hockey turf. The school’s hockey team practices on grass.
They play their league games on astro turf and they excelled in many of them.
This astro is not only a huge asset for the school but also for the community.
“We truly feel blessed to be able to start this project and want every hockey enthusiast to have the opportunity to use it,” said Krause.
The school thanks its’ SGB, who spared no effort to make this dream a reality.
“Thank you to the rest of the governing body, who each made their contribution. Lastly, we would like to thank the Department of Education for their approval and support,” he concluded.
