Eskom team visits Ekurhuleni after 300 days of no load shedding in South Africa
Eskom team visits Ekurhuleni days after South Africa marks more than 300 days of no load shedding.
Senior officials of the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) met with their counterparts from the country’s power utility, Eskom, to foster and build stakeholder relations between the municipality and the power supply utility.
Representing CoE was the city manager, Dr Imogen Mashazi, and from the Eskom team was general manager, Andile Jack.

Discussions included best practices to improve the energy offering for the region.
The Eskom team’s visit to Ekurhuleni coincides with South Africa, marking more than 300 days of no load shedding.
“These 300 days without load shedding were characterised by a significant reduction in unplanned outages, which have for long been one of the biggest challenges, a notable improvement in the energy availability factor of approximately 7% and savings in diesel expenditure of R16.42b,” said Eskom’s generation head Bheki Nxumalo in reaction to the power utility’s milestone.
“We urge South Africans to continue using power sparingly,” he said.
