Eden Park community comes alive as barbers give back
Young Barbershop is encouraging youth to use their free barbering skills development programme offered at their training and development centre in the Johannesburg CBD.
To mark Youth Day, Young Barbershop, based in Eden Park, celebrated more than just fresh haircuts; they honoured their community with heart, hustle and hometown pride.
The local salon offered haircuts at discounted prices, drawing residents from across the neighbourhood.
There was music, laughter, and a sense of joy as barbers worked and neighbours gathered.

“We came back home not to show off, but to show what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Young Barbershop in a statement.
“The vibe was full of excitement. Barbers were busy cutting hair while music played, children smiled, and the community felt alive. We spoke to the young people and shared our story; a story about hard work, progress and helping others. We told them – no one is coming to save us. We must stand up and grow together.”

In an interview with the Alberton Record, Young Barbershop also highlighted their free barbering skills development programme offered at their training and development centre in the Johannesburg CBD.
They explained that all the youth need is taxi fare and a hunger to learn, as the rest is covered.
“We believe in real solutions, not empty promises,” the team added.

The celebration was not just about haircuts. It was a heartfelt homecoming and a way to honour the community that shaped their journey.
“This wasn’t just an event. It was a thank you and a reminder that we are who we are because of Eden Park.
“To every barber with big dreams, our doors are open.”
