Kimura Judo athletes earn top honours at Alberton interclub competition

Kimura Judo celebrated an impressive debut at its first interclub competition, with several athletes delivering standout performances and the club already preparing for its next challenge.

Kimura Judo hosted its first interclub competition at the Alberton Wrestling Club on August 1, where athletes showcased their skills, determination and sportsmanship in a successful day of competition.

Among the standout performers were brothers Channing and Khalen Taylor Lewis, who won all of their fights to finish the event unbeaten.

Jack Cloete also delivered an excellent performance to earn a place on the podium.

Mihan Viljoen displayed great determination throughout the competition, impressing coaches with a courageous performance.

Coaches Monty Kalil and Zander Woest praised all the Kimura Judo athletes who represented the club.

“We are proud of every member of Kimura Judo who competed over the weekend. Everyone gave their best and represented the club with pride,” the coaches said.

The club is now turning its attention to the next competition, the Gauteng Open, which takes place on August 15.

The coaches said they are looking forward to more competitive fights and positive results as their athletes continue to develop.
