Ink Pot doubles fundraising goal as community rallies for Hospice patients
The Ink Pot in Verwoerdpark turned a heartfelt fundraising campaign into a powerful show of community support for young patients at the Stepping Stone Hospice, raising R10 260 for the Stepping Stone Hospice children’s unit.
The local stationery store Ink Pot, nestled in the 2nd Ave Shopping Centre in Verwoerdpark, has gone above and beyond in its mission to support young patients facing life-limiting conditions.
Through a beautifully curated raffle, the Ink Pot team, in collaboration with suppliers and donors, rallied the community behind a cause close to their hearts, raising more than double their original goal of R5 000.
Stepping Stone Hospice described the campaign as a “shower of blessings”, praising the financial impact and the love and solidarity behind it.
A raffle of hope
The fundraiser featured two raffles: A R20 ticket draw for luxury stationery prizes and a R100 ticket draw for an exclusive weekend getaway.
The highly anticipated draw revealed eight lucky winners:

• Second: Erin Bush;
• Third: Carol Whytock;
• Fourth: Julie van Wyk;
• Fifth: Dina Boyder;
• Sixth: Lizelle Janse van Rensburg;

Amanda Berg and her team at Ink Pot spearheaded the initiative.
“Several staff members have a personal connection to the Stepping Stone Hospice, having had loved ones cared for by the organisation,” said Berg.
“Their motivation was not only to give back, but help ensure every child at the Hospice receives the compassion, dignity and comfort they deserve.”
Community kindness in action
Stepping Stone Hospice founder and CEO Tersia Burger said the campaign was more than just a fundraiser; it was a wave of kindness and a demonstration of what happens when a community comes together.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude towards Amanda, her team and every person who bought a ticket or shared this initiative,” Burger said.
“You’ve given our young patients a gift far greater than money; you’ve shown them they matter.”
With donation boxes at the Ink Pot store and continued support from loyal patrons, the campaign proves that even small gestures – a R20 ticket, a shared post, a drop-off donation – can snowball into something powerful.
The success of the raffle reflects Verwoerdpark’s spirit of generosity and reaffirms the lasting impact of the Stepping Stone Hospice on families across the region.
