Sky City crime prevention meeting: SAPS and residents launch united safety plan

Sky City residents met with the Kliprivier SAPS to map out a united response to local crime, sharing concerns and proposing community-led safety solutions.

In a show of community solidarity, residents of Sky City joined forces with the SAPS on the evening of July 16 to plan a collective path toward safer streets and stronger neighbourhood policing.

Kliprivier SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel LJ Mofokeng led the 18:00 meeting at the Sky City Mall taxi rank, aiming to foster collaboration between law enforcement and the public in the fight against crime.

Residents and stakeholders attended the meeting, sharing concerns and exchanging ideas while working on practical crime prevention strategies.

Focus areas of the meeting

Mofokeng and Warrant Officer Ramaboka highlighted the current crime trends impacting Sky City and outlined the measures already in place to address them.

Residents were also encouraged to share their experiences and challenges to help the SAPS identify crime hotspots and areas needing urgent attention.

Key goals discussed:

• Open dialogue: Residents voiced concerns and shared stories of crime, helping the SAPS gain deeper insight into local safety challenges;

• Community-led solutions: Attendees brainstormed crime prevention ideas, emphasising the value of local knowledge in crafting effective interventions;

• Stronger partnerships: The meeting reinforced the critical need for co-operation between SAPS and the community, recognising that sustainable crime prevention is a shared responsibility.
