City of Ekurhuleni begins road repairs in Alberton as part of R275m maintenance budget
The Alberton Record has asked the city for a full list of roads to be rehabilitated and the exact budget set aside for the area.
The City of Ekurhuleni has set aside R275 million in the 2025/26 financial year for urgent maintenance of roads, stormwater drainage systems, signage, and bridges across the metro.
Alberton is among the areas already seeing the results of this allocation, with rehabilitation teams repairing Clinton and Penzance streets.
The budget, announced by the city on July 28, is intended to fast-track road maintenance and improve infrastructure.
This includes pothole repairs, clearing stormwater systems, and restoring damaged bridges.
The municipality has also committed to prioritising wards that have long been disadvantaged when it comes to road construction and infrastructure upgrades.

The Alberton Record has sent an inquiry to the city requesting a full list of roads earmarked for repairs in Alberton, as potholes remain a major concern in the area
The publication also asked how much of the R275 million budget has been allocated specifically to Alberton.
An update will be provided once the city responds.
With rehabilitation work now underway in Alberton, the city is calling on residents to assist by reporting clogged drains, damaged roads, or hazards that threaten maintenance efforts.
