Ola Bella hosts a morning of Grace and Glow for women in Alberton

The Alberton Women’s Day High Tea in Alberton enjoyed a morning of self-care, empowerment, wellness tips, and motivational activities designed to celebrate women.

Ola Bella hosted its Women’s Day High Tea under the theme Grace and Glow at 91 Nelson Mandela Avenue, Randhart.

The exclusive gathering brought together a mix of valued clients and new guests for a morning of empowerment, self-care, and the celebration of womanhood.

The programme featured a motivational talk by guest speaker Nono Lekhanya, a two-time recipient of the South African Heroines Award in the Health and Wellness category.

Guests also witnessed the mini-launch of Ola Bella’s newest treatment, radio-frequency micro-needling, as well as an introduction to Dentology, a partner dental practice that highlighted oral health as part of overall well-being.

Lekhanya opened the session by sharing her personal journey. She spoke about growing up as the one who cared for everyone in her family, even taking on responsibilities meant for her parents by the age of 18.

One day, her father told her, “I never asked you to,” a moment that led her to realise the importance of caring for herself first before pouring into others.

She emphasised the need to prioritise oneself and embrace self-care.

As part of the interactive session, each woman wore a sheet of paper with a cut-out opening, while others anonymously wrote affirmations and words of appreciation on the back. Afterwards, participants removed their papers and read the messages written about them.

The exercise created an emotional atmosphere, with some guests moved to tears by the heartfelt words.

“Once you take it off, you will not know who wrote what. You will not attach it to anyone but yourself. This exercise helps you remember, when you feel unworthy, unseen, unloved, or unappreciated, that this day God whispered to you through these women, telling you who you are,” said Lekhanya.

She also encouraged women not to be mbokodos (rocks) all the time, but to embrace their softness, reminding them they are marshmallows who deserve to be treated with care.

Lekhanya concluded with the message: “You can rewrite your story. Society has wired us to focus on others, their needs and desires. Often, when we finally begin our self-love journey, we struggle to identify our self-care needs, being more familiar with the inner critic and negative self-talk instead.”
