1426 releases Sphalaphala in honour of Women’s Month
A hometown music group has released a powerful new single celebrating the strength, resilience and impact of women in their community and beyond.
Greater Alberton’s supergroup 1426 has released a brand-new single titled Sphalaphala, a powerful tribute to women in celebration of Women’s Month.
The track honours women’s beauty and excellence across business, politics, sport, media, entertainment and beyond.
The word Sphalaphala is an informal term meaning “extremely beautiful woman” – a fitting title for a song that blends amapiano and rap to create an energetic love anthem.
Produced by Slick Hza, with additional production from Emmortalbeats and DJ Rough SA, the single combines infectious dance-floor rhythm with heartfelt appreciation.
Formed in 2023, 1426 is an independent supergroup of seven artists: DopeFlop, Sbala.K (Kruna), Rashid Kay, Jabu Ndlaviini, Spijo Makanvas, Muz Mocka and Sannza Gold.
The group’s name pays tribute to the postal code of their hometown, Thokoza – a township that has shaped both their music and identity.
“Our music reflects who we are and where we come from. Sphalaphala is our way of thanking and celebrating the women who inspire us every day,” the members said.
Known for their undeniable chemistry, 1426 has already made waves with singles such as Straight Everest Remix and Thokoza Anthem 2.0.
Their in-house producer, Emmortalbeats, alongside DJ Rough SA, has been central to crafting their distinct sound that balances authenticity with cutting-edge creativity.
Since the beginning of 2025, the group has dropped Welcome To The Party and Injabulo. Sphalaphala sets the tone for a year of music that celebrates community, culture and love.
With their roots firmly grounded in Greater Alberton and their vision set on the world stage, 1426 is proving to be one of the most exciting and groundbreaking acts in South Africa’s music scene.
