Alberton Lions Club raises R11 800 for children with cancer through Cupcakes of Hope Fundraiser

Volunteers from the Alberton Lions Club dedicated 172 hours and 772 cupcakes to support families affected by childhood cancer.

The Alberton Lions Club again demonstrated community spirit by participating in the National Cupcakes for HOPE fundraiser, an annual event that supports children battling cancer.

Held on September 27, the initiative brought together 27 Alberton Lions Club members and eight friends of the Lions, who collectively volunteered 172 hours across four local malls.

The team donated 772 cupcakes to the cause at the Bracken City collection point. They raised R11 800 through cupcake sales, helping to bring comfort and financial relief to families affected by childhood cancer.

Cupcakes of Hope, the NPO behind National Cupcakes Day, unites communities across SA to bake and sell cupcakes in exchange for donations.

The funds raised provide financial aid, medical equipment, care packs and essential support to over 260 families with children fighting cancer.

“Childhood cancer is one of our key service pillars and this project is close to our hearts,” said Ŕiekie Foster, a representative from the Alberton Lions Club.

“With projects like this, we can make a tangible difference and bring smiles to little ones’ hearts.”
