Bracken Library hosts spirited Women and Heritage Day celebration
Bracken Library brimmed with colour and culture as the community gathered to celebrate Women and Heritage Day with style, inspiring talks and a swirl of elegance.
Bracken Library came alive in September as community members gathered to celebrate Women’s Month and Heritage Day in a vibrant morning filled with inspiration, tradition, and style.
Themed “Dress up with a hint of nostalgia, a touch of tradition, or a swirl of elegance,” the event encouraged attendees to embrace their heritage through fashion and culture.
Guests enjoyed an engaging programme featuring guest speakers, poetry readings, and lively performances, along with prizes and refreshments.
Speakers and sponsors included representatives from Dis-Chem Bracken Gardens, ABSA Bracken City, the CPF Brackenhurst, Brackenhurst Clinic, the RAW Foundation, and the Friends of Bracken Library.

Notable contributors such as Ruth Koketso Mbali, Women in Blue Overalls, and the Department of Health added depth and diversity to the morning’s discussions.
Adding a light-hearted touch, an all-male judging panel selected winners for the Best Dancer and Best Dressed categories, recognising both traditional and stylish interpretations.
Also in attendance were representatives from Old Mutual, Metropolitan, and Avbob.
The day captured the true spirit of community, culture, and celebration, reminding all present that heritage thrives when it is shared.
