Planned water interruption to affect parts of Alberton on November 9

The City of Ekurhuleni will shut down supply for maintenance at the Meyersdal Eco Estate Reservoir, affecting several local suburbs.

Residents in Alberton are urged to prepare for a planned water supply interruption scheduled for November 9, as the City of Ekurhuleni carries out essential maintenance work at the Meyersdal Eco Estate Reservoir.

According to a notice issued by the city, the water shutdown will begin at 06:00 and is expected to be restored at 14:00 on the same day.

The city has warned that affected areas may experience low pressure or no water during this period.

Areas to be affected

The interruption will impact several suburbs, including Alrode, Alrode south, Meyersdal Extensions, parts of Eden Park, Thokoza, Brackenhurst, Brackendowns, Newmarket, New Redruth, and surrounding areas in Alberton.

Reason for the shutdown

The city explained that the temporary disruption is due to Rand Water meter replacement and the changing of a mag flow meter at the reservoir.

Water tankers and precautions

At this stage, no water tankers have been allocated, but the city says arrangements will be made for affected areas if necessary.

Residents are advised to keep all taps closed during the interruption to avoid water loss when the supply is restored and to use water sparingly throughout the summer months.
