Community united in faith and service at Ligstad’s Celebrating Grace event

Local NPOs gathered at Ligstad in Alberton to celebrate a year of impactful service, unity, and faith-driven community change.

Ligstad in Alberton recently hosted its Celebrating Grace event, bringing together members of the community and several local NPOs for an inspiring evening of reflection, collaboration, and thanksgiving on October 29.

The purpose of the event was to highlight the positive actions being taken in the community and to introduce the City Changers, an initiative focused on individuals and organisations making a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Representatives from various NPOs came together to celebrate their ongoing partnerships, share their missions and acknowledge how working together has helped them achieve their goals.

During the evening, attendees reflected on their achievements over the past year, including the number of people reached through their collective efforts.

One of their most notable collaborative initiatives is the Street Shower — an outreach event that provides more than 1 500 vulnerable individuals with essential items, food, clothing and personal care, helping to restore dignity and hope to those in need.

Faith and prayer were highlighted as the driving forces behind these organisations’ continued success. The groups emphasised that their work is guided by a shared belief in serving others, inspired by the biblical call to help those across all nations.

Their joint efforts have extended beyond Alberton, reaching neighbouring communities and even other provinces.

Among the organisations represented were Life On The Streets (#LOTS), which focuses on supporting homeless individuals and helping them reintegrate into society; Addicts Voice, an NPO dedicated to addiction recovery and rehabilitation; and the Alberton Lions, a service organisation known for its charitable projects that address local needs ranging from hunger relief to vision care.

Daniel Viljoen, CEO of Ligstad, expressed deep gratitude and pride in witnessing the community’s unity and shared commitment to positive change.

“Celebrating Grace is more than just an event. It’s a reflection of how faith, compassion, and collaboration can transform lives. At Ligstad, we believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings light and hope into our community. Together, we can continue to make a real difference,” said Viljoen.

The event was a resounding success, marked by heartfelt testimonies, unity and a renewed commitment to continue serving the community with compassion and faith.

Organisers expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnerships and looked forward to strengthening their collective impact in the year ahead.

Ligstad’s Celebrating Grace event stood as a beautiful reminder that when a community comes together in prayer and purpose, lasting change follows.
